Another day, another review of frozen meals brought to you by Gordon Ramsay. In my previous blog I reviewed the Mushroom Risotto and today we have his Chicken Pot Pie. Not going to lie, I’m not a Chicken Pot Pie fan normally, it just isn’t something that sparks joy. But it’s Gordon Ramsay so why not?
COOK TIME: According to the box you can either cook it in the oven between 40-45 minutes but lets face it, most of us are gonna zap that baby in the microwave which only takes 6 minutes to heat, one minute to cool and enjoy. Saving time is essential with these meals, so right off the bat, HUGE plus.
PORTION SIZE: It isn’t a thick pot pie, kind of thin if you ask me, but it’s about the circumference of a decent sized bowl. Again, this is more of a quick, on the go type meal, not some hearty feast. We’re eating this to tide of over to the next meal, not make this THE meal. Perfect for a fast lunch.
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS: I kind of covered this up above, but we’ll go into it a little more here. I hate things that heat in the microwave that are like “Peel the film back, heat for 4 minutes, take out , remove film, stir, wish upon a star, sing the star spangled banner, put back in for 4 minutes, let sit for 10 minutes while you pray to your god, enjoy!” This is simple. Peel the film back, Heat for 6 minutes, sit for a minute, enjoy. Bing. Bang. Boom.
TASTE: I hope you like salt. Because this is almost like biting into a horse’s salt lick. Not saying I hate that, but you have to be ready for it. If you’re a low sodium fan, this is not the meal for you. But again, we’re eating this as something quick. We aren’t exactly looking for health here.
So having said that, does it justify the price of $6? In my opinion, yes, yes it does. This meal provides exactly what you want. Fast, filling, easy to make. Not something I want to eat every day, but if you have a freezer at work that you trust people not to mess with it, this is nice to have on those days you forget a lunch!
