As far as I’m concerned, Shinedown doesn’t have the ability to write a bad song. In fact they’ve had 28 singles over the span of six albums since 2003. As they are about to release their seventh studio album, the band dropped the title track a few weeks back and it’s a banger. In fact, it just hit number one on the Billboard mainstream charts.
In a recent interview with Andy Hall of our Saga sister station, Lazer 103.3 in Des Moines, Iowa, frontman Brent Smith said the band prides themselves on not writing the same song or even the same album twice.
In an interview with ABC Audio, Smith said:
“One thing Planet Zero does not do, though, is give up on humanity. There’s an empowerment to this album. There’s a lot of triumph in this album.”
The band says this new album is their most ambitious record they’ve ever done and it’s inspired by our world and what we’ve all been going thru the last few years with the pandemic. In fact, there are 20 tracks on Planet Zero which is due out on April 22nd.
Today, they dropped the official video for the title track.
Shinedown of course is out on the road already in support of the new album and will hit Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on May 4th. The Revolution’s Live tour will also feature The Pretty Reckless and Diamante
