Ozzy’s new album “Ordinary Man” has been out for a few weeks now and is by far one of the best pieces of work he’s ever created. In fact, it’s the first album he’s ever done completely and totally sober. It’s also his highest charting solo album and the first in over a decade. It’s a wonderful piece of work.
With news of the new album, guests had been announced like Slash, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers and even Sir Elton John, whom duets with Ozzy on the title track.
Well, The Prince of Darkness released the official video for that song today and it’s gunna sock you right in the feels. With Ozzy siting in a screening room taking a look back on his own life: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. From the baby photos, the beginning with Black Sabbath, to the peak drugged out years, to creating one of the biggest rock festivals ever to be born in Ozzfest, to three beautiful children and his gorgeous Sharon, even footage from the ATV crash that almost killed him. It’s a five minute roller coaster and watching Ozzy watch himself, you can tell it hits him in the feels too.
I know Ozzy has expressed how upset he is with having to cancel tour plans because of his Parkinson’s diagnosis. He also cancelled his keynote address at SXSW due to COVID-19 concerns. (That whole festival has since been scrapped this year). Unable to tour, he’s already talking about making more music because as he said, what else is he going to do.
As I’ve stated before, I am quite fine with him not touring anymore. I’ve been blessed to see him and the original Black Sabbath several times. His health is more important that the unforgiving grueling life on the road. And if he decides to start writing a new album next month, I for one support it and will be quite anxious to hear it.
In the meantime, enjoy the walk down memory lane with Ozzy in “Ordinary Man”
