Tom Hanks Revisits WWII in “Greyhound”

I think everyone could agree that Saving Private Ryan is not only a cinematic masterpiece, but one of Tom Hanks‘ best roles. It’s one of those films for me that stuck me and my psyche in ways that I can never explain, no matter how many times I watch it.

So, today, when I saw a trailer for a new World War II movie starring Tom Hanks, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. Hanks not only stars in Greyhound, but he also wrote the screenplay based off a novel written by C.S. Forester (Horatio Hornblower, The Good Shepherd)

This time around Hanks takes to the sea as a Navy commander and in very first wartime assignment, has to lead a convoy of 37 Allied ships that are being pursued by Nazi U-Boats. Can you imagine? Your very first battle and those are the odds you are facing?

Hanks did spectacular in Saving Private Ryan, hell, let’s be honest, he is spectacular in every roll from Bosom Buddies on up. He will be nothing short of spectacular in Greyhound which will hit theatres June 12th and from the look of it, will be every bit as intense as Saving Private Ryan. Check out the trailer below:
