Imagine going to a concert with your dad. Not just any concert, but a sold out show with Tool. I mean, we waited 13 years for an album. The tour dates have been limited. And to get to attend and share such an amazing experience with your dad? Does it get much better that that?

The answer is YES. Yes it does.

Especially when your dad is Eddie Van Halen.

And when some rando in the crowd then politely asks your dad, (and I’m paraphrasing here) “Hey man, could you take a photo of me with the stage behind me?”  And dad obliges. I mean, knowing the laws that Tool lays down concerning cell phones at their shows, this is probably the only picture the dude is gonna get right?

The rando goes home with a photo proving that he was at the Staples Center at the sold out Tool show. But has NO FREAKIN’ CLUE that the guy he asked to snap the picture is Eddie Van Halen.

I laughed so hard at this photo. It’s everything! And then I shed a few tears because this kid had no idea who he asked to take the picture. And thanks to the Instagram account of Wolf Van Halen, Eddie’s son, and the blasting around the social media world, I wonder if this kid is still on his high of seeing Tool, or kicking himself for not knowing he had a LEGEND take a shot of him and a post-show stage.

Maybe it’s a generational thing. Maybe it’s the short hair Eddie has sported over the last several years. But my God, man!!

Ugh… that’s it. I’m out of words!

Enjoy the best moment of the Tool show not only for Wolf Van Halen, his father Eddie and me. Because I’m enjoying the hell out of this.

And to the young man in this photo….. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!
