The Vols Speak Up on the Great Gatorade Debate

People will argue about anything on social media. The latest is about the color of Gatorade.

Gatorade has been around a very long time, since 1965. A team of researchers led by Dr. Robert Cade, created the sports beverage for the student athletes of the University of Florida – the Gators.

It’s used by athletes everywhere. Football victories are celebrated with the Gatorade Shower. And now, one of the two original flavors, Lemon Lime, is being debated. Not for it’s flavor, mind you, but rather its color.

Yep, the latest thing to argue about on social media: Is Lemon Lime Gatorade green or is it yellow? Not something I’ve ever thought twice about until now. To me, it’s a pale green. To others, it’s yellow.

The debate is so hot right now that the Tennessee Volunteers football team had their own debate via TikTok.

I don’t care what color it is, I know it’s my favorite flavor. But if I have to choose, I’m sticking with green.
