Yes, I said kangaroo and Tennessee in the same sentence.
Much like those of us with dogs or cats, sometimes they get sneaky and figure a way out of the house and go on a walkabout. We panic because we love them so much. We don’t know how or when they got out, how long they’ve been gone, where they went, if they’re safe etc. We jut want them back as quickly as possible and safe. I’ve had it happen and it’s full-on panic mode.
We all know that kangaroos are not native to these parts, but one family in Sparta, TN has one as a pet. Beau is nine months old, but he’s gone missing. Todd and Stacey Watson told the local news that apparently, Beau got out thru an open door on Thursday and while their son tried to chase after him, Beau was too fast on his two feet and hopped away too quickly and hasn’t been seen since.
The family is asking for help in finding him but stress DO NOT CHASE HIM. They don’t want Beau to run, er… hop, even further away from home. Not to mention, even though he’s only nine months old, he could still kick the crap out of you. Literally. Beau was bottle fed, he lives in the house, has never been outside by himself before.
If you do see Beau, please call the family: 931-254-3528.
If at this point you are asking the “how” and “why” about Beau, the Watson’s purchased him from an exotic pet sale in Cookville, TN.
And for the record, TWRA does not require a permit for kangaroos.
Be right back, I’m going shopping…
In all seriousness, I do hope Beau is found quickly and gets back home to his family where he belongs.
