Stone Temple Pilots Help Celebrate July 4th at Fort Campbell

We are one week out from the 4th of July and in case you missed the news, there is a big party happening at Fort Campbell.

The Fort Campbell Independence Day Celebration kicks off at 5pm with the 101st Airborne Division Ceremony and of course, this party always includes a great night of music. This year, Stone Temple Pilots will be a part of the show, along with the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd and Cassadee Pope.

We haven’t heard much from STP the last few years but a lot has happened. In 2013, Scott Weiland was fired, Chester Bennington stepped into that spotlight for one EP, then bowed out gracefully to refocus on Linkin Park. Tragedy struck in 2015 when Weiland died of an accidental OD and in 2017, they found their new frontman in Jeff Gutt. (Jeff used to front the nu metal band, Dry Cell).

Since Jeff came on board, he along with original member Robert and Dean DeLeo and Eric Kretz released two albums, the last being Peridia in 2020, which was strange, as the band called it “an acoustic record largely recorded on vintage instruments.”

While I’m not sure what the latest is on the new music, new album front, they are definitely staying busy touring.

Gate will open at 4pm, lots of fun, activities for the kids, food trucks, adult bevies and a rock show.

So if you didn’t have 4th of July plans, you do now. Stone Temple Pilots and Lynyrd Skynyrd in a FREE show!

This year’s song of the summer is a ballad, not a banger. Here’s what that says about us

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary." As Berklee College of Music professor and forensic musicologist Joe Bennett notes, the February release is "a fair bit slower than the mean average for the Hot 100, or for a historical song of the summer."
