It’s been nearly a month since 61-year-old Steve Keel of Dover, set out in the Alaskan wilderness on a hunting expedition. He went with a friend on the 24th of August. On the 28th, he disappeared after walking away from the campsite in Deadhorse, Alaska.
In the days following, his sons flew in to search for him and came home empty handed. Then, four other men, with military search and rescue experience, hopped a plane to conduct a search as well. Their search came to an unsuccessful end as well just a few days ago.
More heartbreaking news as of just a few hours ago, Alaskan officials have now officially suspended their search as zero trace of Steve has been discovered. He just disappeared.
Now a benefit has been organized to raise funds to help restart efforts and continue searching for Keel. The “Search for Steve” benefit ride is happening this Saturday, September 24th. The starting point and registration is nine a.m. at Stewart County High School. Kickstands go up at 9:30am and there will be stops at the AmVets and VFW with the ride concluding back at the high school. There will be food after the ride at the Mossy Oak Properties.
Here is the flyer with all the information about the ride. Saturday is going to be a beautiful day to be on two wheels, or four as all are welcome.
