Scott Weiland’s Son Tackles Addiction in Emotional Song

It’s been just over seven years since the death of Stone Temple Pilots frontman, Scott Weiland. While the band continues with singer Jeff Gutt, it’s just not quite the same.

Music continues to flow from the Weiland DNA, though, with Scott’s son, Noah Weiland.

Noah once fronted a band called Suspect208, alongside Tye Trujillo and London Hudson. Their dads? Yea, Robert Trujillo and Slash, respectively. Suspect208 parted ways in 2021. Noah was allegedly kicked out of the band becaues of his drug use. Sound familiar?

Noah has since gotten sober and released his solo debut, Last Kiss Before Detox last year, but his name is popping up the last couple of days in regard to his song, “Good Riddance & Goodbye”. The video just dropped to his YouTube channel.

Sonically, Noah is quite different from Stone Temple Pilots. Noah employs elements of electronica, alternative and hip-hop flavored lyrics. Think bands like Falling in Reverse.

In an interview with Loudwire, Noah said the song is about losing someone to addiction that he thought was his soulmate and from the sound of it, Noah has had his own struggles with addiction, much like his father.  Noah had a single last year called “Drunk” that he said was about his father, mother, his old stepmom, growing up and yes, addiction.

We lost a huge voice, talent and force when we lost Scott. All things that were passed to his son. Sadly, so was the addiction. Noah said in his interview that “My recovery and music are the only things that matter to me.” It’s good to know that this kid has his head on straight and going down a (hopefuly) different path than his dad did.

This year’s song of the summer is a ballad, not a banger. Here’s what that says about us

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary."
