Roxy Theatre is Bring Back The Rocky Horror Show

In 1975, one of the greatest, weirdest films ever was released. “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” stars Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as Janet and Brad, a young couple who get stranded on a stormy night and seek shelter in a castle that belongs to the eccentric Dr. Frank-N-Furter, whom of course is flawless played by Tim Curry. Even Meatloaf who portrays Eddie.

The film has become a cult classic. Fans are fanatic about it. Theatres that do showing are prepared for full audience participation in this musical that has become a sing-a-long.

What some might not know, is the “picture” show actually evolved from the book and 1973  musical stage production, written by Richard O’Brien. (Richard, by the way, portrays Riff Raff in the film.)  So it makes sense that the original idea of presenting the musical finds its way to The Roxy Theatre in downtown Clarksville.

The Roxy is celebrating 10 years of “The Rocky Horror Show” October 13th thru the 29th. Tickets are $35 and can be reserved online at roxyregionaltheatre.org.

Of course, audience participation is encouraged. So if you are ready to do the Time Warp again, dress up as your favorite Rocky Horror character and bags of props will be available for just $5 in the lobby an hour before show time.

I love the film. It’s not Halloween without it. I’ve never seen the musical, but might have to check it out. It’s just going to be difficult to see someone other than Tim Curry playing that sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania,
