On this episode of Rockin’ Rescue, we meet the dog behind Mikaela’s Mutt Motel: Ace! Along with his sister, Addie, who were both rescued, they have become ambassadors for rescue and adoption. We also are celebrating “Dogust” and learning what you can do to celebrate and help.
Ace also celebrated his 11th birthday this week and of course he had a party!!
The month of August is also known as “Dogust”! Celebrate by helping out our four-legged furry friends. Some ways you can do that:
Volunteer at a local rescue or shelter. Everything from walking, feeding, cleaning, playing and cuddling can be a huge help not only to the humans, but those dogs that are waiting to find their FURever homes.
Donate money or supplies. If you’ve got a few extra bucks, or feel like picking up extra items while you are doing your own shopping, again a huge help. Cleaning supplies, food, treats, toys, pee pads, and more.
Fundraise for your favorite rescue, shelter or dog organization. Have a garage sale, a bake sale, a car wash, or even a dog wash. You do some other good things for the community and the dogs.
Foster a dog. Shelters and rescues are always full and usually with a waiting list of others who are in need. Dogs do not thrive in a shelter. They get lonely and anxious and it can cause behavior issues. Fostering a dog gets them out of that mundane situation and into a stimulating environment where they can socialize, learn manners and get ready for their FURever home.
