Reason #951 to Love Dave Grohl: He Trolled the Westboro Baptist Church. Again.

Dave Grohl is the king troll! And love it!!

Once again, Grohl and Foo Fighters took to the street to counter protest the morons of the Westboro Baptist Church. Foo Fighters played in Bonner Springs, KS, just outside of Kansas City last Thursday night but prior to the show, struck out against this hate mongering “church” like they do oh so well.

The Foos had a run in with WBC in August 2011 prior to a show in Kansas City, where church members showed up to protest and Grohl and company struck back in the most epic way possible. They dressed up like a bunch of hillbillies and sang a special song called “Keep It Clean.” In August 2015, they “Rick Rolled” the WBC.

Apparently there is something about the Foos, the month of August, Kansas City and the WBC. What kills me is HOW can you be upset with Dave? Or any of the Foos for that matter? He seems like a stellar dude with a great sense of humor and a true love of what he does and the fans that make it possible. I mean, almost every single Foo Fighters show, someone from the audience finds their way on stage to jam with the band.

I feel sorry for the members of the Westboro Baptist Church. There’s not a single thing about them that’s Christian and the level of hate and stupidity that they continue to spew, dragging young children in that don’t even know what they are protesting or why.  I’ve seen the WBC along with various other religious nuts protest artists like Ozzy, Manson or even Slayer. Ok… maaaaaybe you can try and make a point, not that you’re right by any stretch of the imagination. But protesting Foo Fighters and telling them and their fans they are going to hell? Just wrong.

Anyway, as always, Grohl takes the high ground and spreads a message of love. This time around it came in the form of “You Should Be Dancing” by the Bee Gees. Which is fantastic because the Foos will be releasing an album of Bee Gees tunes under the moniker of The Dee Gees.

So, dressed in church robes and choir singers on a flatbed truck, Grohl made sure his message of love, and dancing, was shared with the WBC members that not only were there, but the masses all over the world thanks to viral video.

This second video just screams irony to me as it is quite obviously filmed by a member of WBC

Do you wonder if that young parishioner is secretly a Foo Fighters fan and doesn’t really believe in the cause he’s holding signs for?

A peek back to where it all began in 2011:

Here’s the Rick Roll from 2015:

If you’re keeping score at home, Foo Fighters 4 Westboro Baptist Church 0.

Don’t forget, Foo Fighters will be headlining Friday night, September 3rd at Bonnaroo.
