Often times, musicians are nerds. Specifically, SciFi nerds. Such is the case with Claudio Sanchez, the master mind behind prog rockers, Coheed and Cambria.

Formed in New York in 1995, the band creates songs and concept albums based on The Armory Wars; a series of SciFi stories written by Sanchez, which have turned into comic books.

While we still await a title and release date for the band’s newest effort, rumor has it that it picks up where the last album Vaxis – Act 1: The Unheavenly Creatures left off.  They have at leased announced a round of dates for “The Great Destroyer” tour that kicks off in February. Perhaps that is a nod to the album title? We shall see.

In the meantime, you can check out their tune “Shoulders”
