We thought it might be fun to highlight some of the new songs we are spinning here on Z975.

There’s no secret to the good genes that run in the Van Halen family. While the world was mourning the loss of guitar God Eddie Van Halen, his son Wolfgang brought us the release of his debut album. Going by Mammoth WVH, Wolf wrote and played every single instrument on the record. We know he could play bass as he filled the vacancy of Michael Anthony in VH, but man, this kid has it all. And it’s perfectly displayed in the second single, “Don’t Back Down”

The Pretty Reckless was on tour with Soundgarden when Chris Cornell died. Frontwoman Taylor Momsen took it hard and disappeared from the scene for a couple of years. Taylor and the rest of TPR are back with their new album, Death by Rock and Roll and continue to put out hits including the third single, “Only Love Can Save Me Now”. You’ll notice a couple of other familiar faces in this video: Matt Cameron (drums)  and Kim Thayil (guitars) of Soundgarden.

Last but not least, a blistering new track from Papa Roach. Since ’93, this Vacaville, CA band have continued to evolve with the changing scene, surviving everything that has been thrown at them from a changing industry, lineup changes and rehabs. From 2000’s “Last Resort” with the blending of hip hop and nu metal, to the ability to write dare I call it, “power ballads” with songs like “Scars” and “Forever”, Papa Roach have found a the rare formula to be a career band. Like the insect they take their name from, you adapt, or you die. Check out their new track, which they say is the heaviest thing they’d done in four years, “Kill the Noise”
