New Music Monday – 11/22/21

Time to get caught up on what we are spinning here at Z975!

In 1987, Guns N’ Roses blasted onto the scene with a raw, completely unapologetic sound with their debut album, “Appetite for Destruction”. A sound that sold 30 million albums world wide. Then came the follow up releases of “G N’ R Lies” in 1988 and the “Use Your Illusion” I and II in 1991. That brought the nearly 10 minute opus of “November Rain”, which was a beginning to an end of the band.

Shortly after, members started cycling out of the band and it took from 1994 until 2008 to release “Chinese Democracy”, which received mixed reviews from many. It took 14 years of creation for a mediocre record.

In recent years, Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagen have kept things rolling along as much as they could and hit the road for a few massive tours, but there has been little buzz in the way of new music. Until a couple of months ago.

Word surfaced of a “new” song and it was hideous. Sorry, not sorry, but I had no idea what I was listening to with the track, “Absurd”. Like had it not said that it was G N’ R, you’d never no. Turns out that track was a leftover from the “Chinese Democracy” sessions. Phew!

Fast forward to “Hard Skool”, another “new” but old leftover from “Chinese Democracy”. To me this one sounds much more like actual G N’ R. But there’s an interesting twist to go along with this tune:

So an old song, that was leaked years ago, but is just now surfacing and making its way to radio.  So, check out “Hard Skool” and let us know what you think.
