Cooler temps, crisp air, the first day of fall and the biggest music festival of the season is set to kick off tomorrow in Louisville.

After being cancelled last year because of Covid, this massive four-day event is ready to turn the Highland Festival Grounds into a giant party. Louder Than Life boasts a roster that includes two nights and different sets from Metallica, Korn, Volbeat, Judas Priest and Seether. Saturday’s line-up changed a couple of weeks ago when Nine Inch Nails decided to cancel tour plans for the remainder of the year because of the virus and Disturbed stepped into their headlining spot. Now it’s been announced that Mudvayne will no longer be apart of the festival with their Sunday slot being filled by Breaking Benjamin.

What’s interesting is that festival creator/promoter, Danny Wimmer Presents, was instrumental in getting Mudvayne back together. He convinced members to set aside issues and reunite and be featured on the four festivals he is doing this year, including Louder Than Life.

So why the departure? Covid, of course. It seems that Mudvayne frontman Chad Grey has tested positive along with some of their crew. The band issued the following statement:

“After taking every precaution to follow CDC Covid protocols during rehearsals and recent performance Chad Gray and a few staff members have unfortunately tested positive for Covid-19. The safety of our organization, fans and festival partners must come first. We are left no choice but to cancel our performance at Louder Than Life this weekend. Apologies to all the fans attending the festival this weekend. We look forward to getting everyone healthy and ready for our Aftershock and Welcome To Rockville performances later this year. We appreciate your love & support throughout these unprecedented times.”                                                                                                                                             ~Mudvayne

Just as we finally start feeling a sense of “normal” after 18 months, this virus is quite done with us yet. Have no fear though as next four days are packing with plenty of artists to make your trip worth while. Ticket info can be found here. Do be advised that Covid protocols are in place which you can learn about here.

DWP has already announced dates for next year as well, which will be September 22-25, 2022. You can even preorder your tickets with a layaway plan.
