Hard to believe it’s been almost two years since the death of Eddie Van Halen. He will always be one of the greatest guitar players ever. His skill and passion inspired hundreds of musicians and fans all around the world.

Red Hot Chili Peppers included. They just dropped a new song today simply called “Eddie” from their forthcoming album, Return of the Dream Canteen.

The beginning of this one makes me think of their tune “By the Way”. The song has some great riffs, outstanding jazzy type bass from Flea and of course the signature sound of Anthony Kiedis. Lyrically, there are mentions of playing in LA, David Lee Roth, hot teachers and TV wives.

Check out “Eddie” here:

Covid was a productive time for Red Hot Chili Peppers. Return of the Dream Canteen is the Peppers second double album to be released this year. Unlimited Love dropped in February. Once again produced by Rick Rubin, Return of the Dream Canteen will be available October 14th. You can preorder it here.
