Guns n Roses just dropped a “new” song on us today. Now I say “new” because it’s more like it’s new to us. The track is actually a leftover from Chinese Democracy which was released in 2008. That album took ten years to record, from 1997-2007, and was the band’s first new material since 1991’s Use Your Illusion Vol. 1 and 2.
Now, I’m not very good at math, but here we are in 2021, which means it’s be 13 years since GnR created new music. Pretty much 30 years since the last good GnR. But fans everywhere are excited for the fact that this is now the second track this year from them.
To be clear, it’s not new. It’s a leftover from an album that took ten years to complete. It’s a song that didn’t make the cut and is now surfacing 13 years later. I’m unsure how to feel about this. I mean, their are out on tour right now, three of the original members and playing all the hits. You’d think in all this time they could or would write and record something new to tour. But that’s my opinion.
It’s called “Hard Skool” and while the guitar and bass work of Slash and Duff McKagan is solid and recognizable. Axl Rose’s voice – not so much. At least not thru the entire song. But it’s infinitely better than the first leftover they dropped a month or so ago called “Absurd”, which is posted below too. To my ears, it’s the perfect name for it.
So, check out both songs, let us know what you think.
