Harland Sanders was 40 years old, running a gas station that served food. Chicken in fact. Yes, THAT chicken. In fact, the first KFC was born in 1952 and by 1964 he had more than 600 franchises. Now there’s thousands of locations all over the world. His story is fantastic, his chicken with its 11 herbs and spices secret recipe, is delicious. He served as the spokesperson for his famous chicken for years, up until his death at the age of 90 in Louisville, KY in 1980
Leave it then, to Lifetime and 2020 makes us suddenly feel weird about our love for his chicken.
A few days ago, I was seeing posts on social about this alleged movie that Lifetime was making starring Mario Lopez (“Saved by the Bell”) as a ‘young and sexy’ Colonel Sanders and thought this has to be a joke. Nope, it’s not. Not at all.
The trailer dropped today for a honest-to-goodness movie. Ok, mini movie that is 15 minutes, that will air on Lifetime on December 13th.
I think I’ll find something else to do with 15 minutes of my life. I feel dirty enough just watching the trailer. I certainly hope Harland had one hell of a sense of humor and isn’t rolling around in his grave. And I’m pretty sure I don’t ever want to hear the phrase “It’s Finger lickin’ good” ever again.
