It’s Official: Mudvayne Reunites

After a 12-year hiatus, one of the most distinctive bands of the Nu Metal movement have put aside previous issues and reunited just in time for some potential summer festivals.

Danny Wimmer of Danny Wimmer Presents, the concert promoter behind such festivals as Louder than Life, Aftershock, Welcome to Rockville and more, issued a statement that for years, fans had been asking for Mudvayne to be a part of his festivals. But the band, wasn’t a band. A few meetings, some pleading and patience, and Wimmer was able to convince the band that it was time. Then Covid hit.

Now that the country is opening back up and we are approaching a sense of normal, concerts and festivals are on the horizon, and Wimmer has Mudvayne locked in for all four of his festivals this year.

I’m kind of excited for this. I saw Mudvayne for the first time on Ozzfest years ago. After Mudvayne, there was Hellyeah with Chad and Greg joining forces with the great Vinnie Paul. All of Mudvayne’s members have been off doing other things for over a decade. I certainly hope that this reunion isn’t just for the payday and is an opening to the future for them all. In the meantime, here’s a list of the DWP festivals and dates that Mudvayne will be a part of. Fingers crossed they don’t get cancelled.

Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival, which takes place September 10-12 at Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. Early-bird passes are on sale now. Full lineup announcement coming Tuesday, April 20 at noon ET.

Louder Than Life, which takes place September 23-26, 2021 at Highland Festival Grounds at KY Expo Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Early-bird passes are on sale now.

Aftershock — revealed as the “mystery reunion band,” performing on Saturday, October 8 at Discovery Park in Sacramento, California. Weekend passes are sold out, but a very limited number of single-day passes are still available.

Welcome To Rockville, which takes place November 11-14 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Early bird passes are on sale now.

As far as Louder than Life, right now, Mudvayne is the only artist that has been announced.

Here’s a little trip back to the beginning

This year’s song of the summer is a ballad, not a banger. Here’s what that says about us

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary." As Berklee College of Music professor and forensic musicologist Joe Bennett notes, the February release is "a fair bit slower than the mean average for the Hot 100, or for a historical song of the summer."
