Yes, you read that right.
Miley Cyrus, who once upon a time played the Disney character of Hannah Montana; who was once married to the “other” Hemsworth; who brought controversy to every stage she’s been on over the last few years is spreading her wings and steering away from pop music. At least for one album.
Last weekend, Miss Cyrus covered The Cure and The Cranberries at the Save our Stages Festival (#SOSFest) and hinted at the next thing in her plans: A full album of Metallica covers. In an interview with Interview Magazine she said:
“We’ve been working on a Metallica cover album and I’m here working on that. We’re so lucky to be able to continue to work on our art during all of this. At first, it felt uninspiring and now I’ve been totally ignited.”
Before you roll your eyes and laugh, just an FYI, this is not the first time she’s covered the Bay Area Thrashers. She performed “Nothing Else Matter” at the Glastonbury Festival in 2019
She also did a powerful version of Temple of the Dog’s “Say Hello to Heaven” at the Chris Cornell memorial concert.

And let me just further prove that we should take her serious and applaud her talent. She might be a bit ‘off’, but she’s got an incredible voice.
Here’s her performance of The Cure’s “Boys Don’t Cry” (one of my favorite songs from them!) and The Cranberries “Zombie”
I for one, am optimistic for what she can do in this genre.
