It’s been a long time since I’ve watched Saturday Night Live. I mean, I don’t have live TV so if I feel the need to catch up, well, thank you YouTube.
Well, I feel the need to catch up as this week’s SNL was packed full of awesomeness, including first-time host, Nashville comedian, Nate Bargatze. Nate’s been doing stand up since 2002, but it’s just in the last few years that his name has really gotten out there and people are taking notice, thanks to a couple of Netflix specials. Prior to him snagging a host slot on SNL, Nate’s popularity broke the all-time attendance record for Bridgestone Arena when he performed on April 15th of this year.
With lots of Halloween fun and a stand up comedian as host, you knew this episode was going to be fun. Then comes along not only the man who’s hosted SNL more than anyone else, but a musical guest that has appeared on SNL more than anyone else.
Christopher Walken has hosted SNL seven times and while it’s been quite some time, the fact that he showed up as a surprise guest this weekend, was just spectacular. Check out Walken as the Spirit of Halloween.
Not only did Walken guest in a sketch, he introduced Foo Fighters, of which Dave Grohl has appeared on SNL 14 times! Between Foo Fighters, Nirvana and playing with Tom Petty, not to mention appearing in a couple sketches over the years. And in true Walken dialect, er… fashion, they are Foo FIGHT-ers. Here is “Rescued” from their latest, and first without Taylor Hawkins, But Here We Are

Their second performance featured H.E.R. on “The Glass”

As you can see from the clips this was by far one of the best SNL’s in a very long time. Foos were flawless, at 80, Walken is King and Nate did awesome! As a bonus, Grohl makes an appearance in “Lake Beach”… totally worth the watch!
Too bad every episode can’t be this stacked and awesome!
