CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – We’re back to a forecast of mostly sunny skies for Monday’s eclipse, so with any luck the clouds will stay out of the way. Skies should be mostly sunny, with a high in the upper 70s, according to the National Weather Service.

The eclipse will begin at about 12:44 p.m. in Clarksville, according to NASA forecasts. Here’s a timeline:

  • 12:44 p.m.: Event begins
  • 1:28 p.m.: 50% coverage
  • 2:02 p.m.: Maximum coverage, at 97.1%
  • 2:36 p.m.: 50% coverage
  • 3:19 p.m.: Event ends

After all that, we can expect three days and nights of heavy rain, with possible thunderstorms.

  • Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Monday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 59. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
  • Tuesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 66. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
  • Tuesday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 60. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
  • Wednesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 68. South southeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
  • Wednesday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 54. South southeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
  • Thursday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Partly sunny, with a high near 65. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
  • Thursday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 47.
  • Friday: Sunny, with a high near 66.
