Woman charged with DUI in critical motorcycle wreck

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The first Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) call out of 2020 happened at about 10 p.m. on Wednesday,  Jan. 1.

The first crash involving a motorcycle occurred at the intersection of Ft Campbell Blvd. and Quin and led to the arrest of a woman.

Arial Hummel, 38, was traveling south in a Jeep Wrangler on Ft. Campbell Blvd. A 51-year-old man riding a Victory motorcycle was traveling north in the center travel lane of Ft Campbell Blvd.

Arial Hummel was making a left turn onto a private property and crossed into the path of the oncoming motorcycle.  The motorcycle collided with the Jeep, ejecting the rider, who landed on the top of the rear tire and jeep frame.

The 51-year-old was transported by Life Flight in critical condition to a Nashville hospital and is undergoing surgery.

Hummel was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and charged with Driving Under the Influence. Her bond was set at $1,500.  Additional charges are possible.

Police are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash.
