Update, 6:05 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Montgomery and surrounding counties through midnight.

Update, 5:50 p.m.: Houston and Humphreys counties are under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 6:30 p.m.

The storm may bring 60 mph wind gusts and penny-size hail, according to the NWS.

Update, 5:30 p.m.: A strong thunderstorm is moving toward Clarksville with the possibility of 30 mph wind gusts and pea size hail.

The storm will impact portions of northwestern Dickson, Montgomery, Stewart and Houston counties through 6:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

At 5:28, the storm was 9 miles southwest of Tennessee Ridge, or 10 miles northwest of Waverly, moving northeast at 35 mph.

“Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible,” the NWS alert said. “If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.”

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have been issued for Trigg and Christian County, Kentucky, as a storm system moves across the region this afternoon and evening.

Central Christian County and northeastern Trigg County are under the warning.

The warning is in effect until 4:30 p.m. for a storm that could bring 60 mph wind and penny-size hail, according to the National Weather Service.

Other bands of this storm, which is moving north and east, are expected to reach Clarksville between 6 and 9 p.m.

“The main threat will be damaging straight-line winds, frequent lightning, brief heavy downpours resulting in localized flooding, and hail. Isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out,” the NWS alert said.
