CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A new café, The Amsterdam Local, is coming soon to a spot on Madison Street that used to be an auto repair shop.

Owners Naomi Chavez and husband Chris Silk plan to open the week of June 6, with final preparations and staff training now underway.

Some of the offerings at Amsterdam will include espresso, an artisan bakery, a café menu and a variety of small market items such as milk, cheese and bread.

The Amsterdam focuses on bringing awareness to local farmers and artisan chefs. “We want to highlight and build relationships with the community around us,” Chavez said.

The Amsterdam Local is at 518 Madison St. on the corner of Madison and University, at the previous location of Two Brothers Auto Shop, nestled against the new apartment complex.

The location is almost fully converted from the old garage, into an environment inspired by the owners’ trip to the Netherlands. The building emphasizes European culture with a bike rack, pet-friendly dining, and a casual environment inside, explains Chavez.

“I want to bring back biking to your local coffee shop and stopping by for a quick bite, something that can be a cornerstone for the community,” said Chavez.

More information and additional updates can be found on The Amsterdam Local Facebook.
