Update, 2:13 p.m.: The Clarksville Police Department reported after concluding their initial investigation, the shooting at Governors Square Mall was an isolated incident between two parties outside the mall and not a random act.

Mall employees and shoppers were allowed back inside the mall at around 1:42 p.m. when law enforcement finished their deliberate search of the mall to ensure no victims or suspects were inside, according to Beaubien.

“The Clarksville Police Department would like to thank the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Homeland Security, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Clarksville Fire Rescue, Montgomery County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), First Call, Vanderbilt EMS and CPD dispatchers for responding to the scene,” said CPD in a news release sent to Clarksville Now.

Detectives with District 3 Criminal Investigations are actively investigating this incident and are asking for anyone with information to call 911.

This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with information or additional video footage is asked to call 911. To remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward, submit a tip online at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Crime Stoppers website or call the Tipsline, 931-645-8477.

“This is still an ongoing investigation and not an active shooter situation,” Beaubien said. “Numerous law enforcement agencies responded to the scene.” Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call 911.

The incident happened during a scheduled multi-agency training exercise nearby at Tennova Healthcare.

Update, 11:32 a.m.: Shots were fired outside the mall, but no injuries have been reported, according to CPD spokesman Scott Beaubien.
