CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Police have arrested a suspect in a 2022 shooting death on Forest Hills Drive. On Wednesday, the Clarksville Police Department arrested 25-year-old Jacori Steele for the murder of Naythan Nugent.

On March 15, 2022, Clarksville Police responded to a shooting in the 300 block of Forest Hills Drive, according to CPD spokesperson Scott Beaubien. When officers arrived, they found 19-year-old Nugent inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound. The young man was pronounced dead at the scene.

CPD Detective Bruce Kilby identified Steele as a suspect. While this had been an ongoing investigation, evidence was presented this month, and a grand jury returned an indictment for Steele on the charge of first-degree murder.

On Wednesday, police apprehended Steele after they responded to a property damage call at 1803 Madison St. Steele was an occupant of the vehicle, and officers verified he had a warrant out for his arrest, according to Beaubien.

Steele tried to run, but after a short pursuit, he was taken into custody. CPD recovered a loaded firearm that was stolen out of Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

Steele had prior felony convictions, which makes it illegal for him to possess any firearm. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail for first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, convicted felon going armed and evading arrest.
