Man with 4 previous DUI arrests pleads guilty to vehicular homicide in 2021 Clarksville wreck

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A man from Morrison, Tennessee, who had already been arrested four times on DUI charges recently pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in a 2021 fatal car crash on Tiny Town Road.

Brian Forrest Brock, 34, was taken into custody on Nov. 15 to begin his sentence after pleading guilty to vehicular homicide-driver intoxication.

On May 16, 2021, at about 11:50 a.m., Clarksville Police responded to a fatal wreck on Tiny Town, east of Profit Drive, involving three vehicles. Rolando Mendez, 44, of Clarksville died as a result of his injuries.

According to a police report obtained by Clarksville Now, Brock was travelling westbound on Tiny Town in a 2003 Honda Accord when he crossed over the two-way left turn lanes and into the eastbound travel lanes, causing a head-on collision with a 1993 Honda Civic driven by Mendez.

The momentum of the collision caused Brock’s vehicle to swing out and hit a 2015 Toyota Sienna with three occupants inside.

Brock was transported to Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville with major injuries, and Mendez was pronounced dead at the scene. The passengers in the Toyota sustained no serious injuries. All of the vehicles involved received “disabling damage” and were towed from the scene.

Originally, Brock was facing nine charges:

  1. Reckless Driving
  2. Casual Exchange (Marijuana)
  3. DUI: First Offense
  4. Reckless Endangerment – Vehicle/Felony
  5. DUI: Fourth
  6. Criminal Negligent Homicide
  7. Vehicular Homicide
  8. Vehicular Homicide Driver Intoxication
  9. Aggravated Vehicular Homicide

According to court records, Brock pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide-driver intoxication and was given a 10-year prison sentence. The other eight charges were dropped.

Brock had been arrested four times in other Tennessee cities between 2009 and 2020 on DUI charges, according to court records.
