CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – As JCM Racing and owner Joe Maynard prepare for their third season of operating an NHRA team, JCM Racing will be adding two different drivers to represent their brand for the 2024 season, and you could consider it to be a family affair.

In addition to their two professional Top Fuel teams, comprised of drivers Tony Schumacher and Ida Zetterström, JCM Racing announced Joe C. Maynard will make his debut in the Top Alcohol Dragster category this season. The Top Alcohol Dragster category is considered a steppingstone to Top Fuel as Joe. C embarks on his new racing journey.

When speaking over the addition of his son to his team, Joe Maynard said this is a chance for his family to continue building a legacy in the sport, which has always been the goal since day one. “For me, this is another opportunity to further our legacy, whether they stay in racing or eventually take over the team… That’s what this is all about,” Joe Maynard said.

In an interview with Clarksville Now, Joe C. spoke on the importance of his rookie season, including the fact that he’s dedicating this season to his mother, Cathi Maynard, who passed away last year. He said in her remembrance, his mom’s logo will be placed not only on his fire suit, but each side of his dragster as well.

Meanwhile, the son of Joe C., Shelby Maynard, is also set to drive under the JCM Racing banner this season in the NHRA’s Junior series, which is set for ages 8 through 17. With the NHRA Junior series, it allows kids the opportunity to learn the ropes of drag racing at a young as they compete in small-scale versions of the professional races, according to JCM spokesperson Allison McCormick.

When asked about his expectations for his two new drivers, Joe Maynard says he just wants to see his son and grandson go out and compete at the end of the day.

As for his two professional teams, Joe Maynard expects dramatic improvement compared to last year with the hope of finishing in the top 3 at the end of the 2024 season.

Joe C. and Schumacher will be driving Leatherwood Distillery cars this year, according to McCormick.
