CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – After 41 long weeks, high school football is finally back. All ten Clarksville-area football teams are in action on Friday, Aug. 23, so let’s take a look at the matchups for week one of the 2024-25 regular season.

All games are scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday, outside of Clarksville Academy who has a 7:30 p.m. start time.

Clarksville Now Game of the Week: Northwest High @ Ft. Campbell

The Vikings from Northwest High are paying a visit to the Falcons at Fryar Stadium on Friday. Last year, this game came down to the last snap, with Northwest missing a field goal in the final seconds and losing 20-17.  Now, the re-vamped Viking squad is looking for revenge under first year head coach Mark Hall, while the Falcons will look to make it two in a row against Northwest High.

Montgomery Central @ Clarksville High

The Montgomery Central Indians will head to Clarksville High School to face the Wildcats for the beginning of each team’s 2024 campaign. Last year, the Wildcats won 56-0 at Montgomery Central. Now, first year head coach Wyatt Page will look to start his tenure strong, while Clarksville looks to continue its winning streak against in-city opponents.

Franklin Road Academy @ Kenwood High

Kenwood High will play host to the Panthers from Franklin Road Academy in week one, one of the top private schools in the area. The Knights lost 49-7 when they visited Nashville last year but look to use home field advantage to flip the script.

Northeast High @ Green Hill

The Eagles are heading to Mount Juliet to face the Green Hill Hawks in week one. Northeast High took a 44-13 loss to Green Hill at home last year, but first year head coach Deonte Weston will try to make a statement in his first game leading the Eagles.

Sycamore @ Kirkwood High

The Kirkwood High Cobras are hosting the War Eagles from Sycamore in week one. Last year, the Cobras beat Sycamore in overtime for their first win in school history. Chad Watson and his squad looks to start year two of Kirkwood football strong once again.

Clarksville Academy @ Friendship Christian

The Clarksville Academy Cougars will be tested early with their scheduled week one opponent being the defending state runner up at the Division II-A level, the Friendship Christian Commanders. Clarksville Academy lost 46-0 last year, but Steadman Bell and his team will try to pull off a major upset to kick off the season.

Rossview High @ Wilson Central

The Rossview High Hawks head to Wilson Central for week one. Last year, Rossview High had been leading late, but ultimately fell by a score of 24-20. After losing several key players to graduation, a younger Hawks squad now looks to make a statement in week one.

LaVergne @ West Creek

The West Creek Coyotes lost to LaVergne High School by only three points last year in LaVergne. Now, the Wolverines are coming into Coyote territory, and first year head coach Micheal Booker looks to start his tenure with the Coyotes with a win.
