CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Attorney Travis Nathaniel Meeks of Meeks & Meeks in Clarksville received a public censure from the Tennessee Supreme Court’s Board of Professional Responsibility this morning for violation of rules related to communication and conflict of interest.

According to a news release from the Board of Professional Responsibility, Meeks agreed to jointly represent two clients in the pursuit of a detainer action. During that time, Meeks also agreed to represent one of the two clients in a second matter adverse to the other.

Meeks did not obtain an informed conflict waiver from either client, and also failed to maintain communication with one of the two clients, according to the board.

When reached by Clarksville Now, Meeks declined to comment.

A public censure is a rebuke and warning to an attorney, though it does not affect their ability to practice law.

Meeks was previously censured by the board in 2016 for falsely stating in a letter to an adversary that he planned on calling an expert witness, a certified public accountant, who would testify that his adversary’s expert witness, also a CPA, was engaged in criminal conduct.
