Detectives with the CPD’s Special Operations Homicide Unit and the Crime Scene Team are investigating the shooting and processing the scene, Beaubien said.

CPD will be withholding the victim’s name until the next of kin notifications are made.

Update, 1:20 p.m.: Pisgah Elementary School was temporarily placed on a lockout due to police activity near the school, according to a message sent out to school families from Principal Jami Skevington.

“This standard response is out of an abundance of caution, and there is no active threat to the school,” Skevington said in the message.

The lockout was lifted shortly thereafter. Pisgah Elementary is about 1/2 mile away from Manning Drive.
