Foo Fighters frontman and all around rock icon Dave Grohl turns 51 on January 14. A few people were freaked out on Twitter to see the trend:

But rest assured it’s all good.

Did you know the late Neil Peart was Grohl’s inspiration to become a drummer?

Besides just being the sexy singer that he is, we love Grohl for his talent, wit, and generally being a cool human.

Four Things We Love About Dave

1. The insane talent.
Did you know Foo Fighters currently hold the Grammy record for most wins in the Best Rock Album category? That’s 11 wins and 27 nominations if you’re counting. And to think that at one time in his career (Nirvana) he didn’t think he was ‘good enough’ to be a songwriter.

“It’s not about being perfect, it’s not about sounding absolutely correct, it’s not about what goes on in a computer. It’s about what goes on in here [your heart] and what goes on in here [your head].” — Dave Grohl

2. He’s modest.
While we never mind looking at his pictures, Grohl’s a bit more modest than most. In an interview with Maxim (2007) Grohl said, “Women don’t look at me like I’m Fabio; they look at me like I’m Duckie from Pretty In Pink.”

3. The memes.
The man seriously inspires some of the best gifs and memes out there.

4. He gets stuck in your head.
With decades of hit songs, it’s impossible to resist a Grohl song from getting stuck in your brain.

Happy Birthday Dave!
