CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Montgomery County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) is offering a special event to honor fallen soldiers, the military and their families this Saturday, May 25, from 10 am-3 pm at the shelter, 616 N. Spring St.
The event is being organized by Emily Louk, Adoption Coordinator for MCACC. “It’s our Memorial Day event we created to honor all of the fallen soldiers, like my father,” said Louk.
Louk added that adoption and microchip fees will be waived for all active duty service members with military ID, as well as for Gold Star families who have lost a loved one in the military. In addition, all adoption fees for all dogs and cats will be half price, $12.50, during the event. A number of other activities are also planned.
Louk is also asking anyone who has a fallen soldier and would like their name recognized, their names will be displayed on the dog and cat kennels and throughout the building. To find out more email eclouk@mcgtn.net.
“What could be more patriotic than adding a pet to the family for Memorial Day?” said MCACC Director David Kaske. “Memorial Day provides us with another opportunity to get the word out about the lovable animals we have available at the shelter and help them get placed in the home of an individual or family who will care for them,” he added.
