Scott Weiland has been kicked out of Stone Temple Pilots, according to a spokeswoman for the band.
There are no details about Weiland’s “official termination,” which comes on the heels of his announcement that he’s planning to stage a solo tour concentrating on tunes from the first two STP albums. The band went on hiatus after a 2002 tour and reunited six years later, right after Weiland was fired by his other band, Velvet Revolver.
STP had announced plans for a tour focusing on playing the early albums in their entirety, but that never happened. Weiland’s solo trek kicks off Friday in Flint, Michigan.
